Remembering Earnie
Earnie Larsen;
August 9, 1939 - January 11, 2011
"A big and gentle man with an astounding ability to touch the hearts of those of us who have accepted the challenge of creating change in our lives."
Earnie Larsen is a nationally known author and lecturer in the Recovery & Addiction field and originator of the Stage IIT Recovery process. Along the road of recovery, Earnie's signposts have connected the dots to show people where they started as a human being, how to take their recovery as deep as the damage, and along the way how to achieve joy and abundance.
At the end of September, 2010, Earnie was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer. He peacefully passed away on January 11, 2011.
A counselor for over 30 years, Earnie authored more than 60 books and 40 motivational self-help tapes on a variety of topics ranging from managing interpersonal relationships to spirituality. He is widely read and listened to and often quoted in 12-Step Groups, like Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon, and Adult Children of Alcoholics. Earnie has been referred to as an authority in dealing with issues like co-dependency and dysfunctional behaviors.
As a lecturer, Earnie was known and sought after by industry, treatment centers, churches and many other types of organizations, both nationally and internationally. His seminars frequently sold out, due in part to his unique simplicity and his folksy, "heart of America" appeal.
Earnie has been seen and heard on radio and television throughout the country, on The Oprah Winfrey Show and CNN. Earnie Larsen's message has helped hundreds of thousands of people in their personal growth.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 31 years, Paula (Bendry); children, Erin Macken-French (Monte), Cara Macken McNulty (John); grandchildren; Montgomery, Loren, Joshua, Ella French; Adeline, Isabel McNulty; siblings, Katie Lashbrook (C.L. dec.), Carol Hegarty (Dick dec.), Steve Larsen (Melina), Bill Larsen (Barbara); sisters in-law, Ellen Bendry, Dorothy Weber(Gene); many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends.
